This month, I attended my first MentorWalk around the glorious Sydney Harbour and Botanical Gardens.  Matched with mentor Barbara Meister and a small group of likeminded women, I found the experience energising and inspiring!  A key takeaway for me was the importance of building networks to advance our careers. It remains true that who you know can significantly impact your journey.

In today’s professional landscape, having a robust network, or “eco-system “ as Barbara termed it, is more crucial than ever. This eco-system consists of contacts within and outside your immediate workplace who can help propel your career forward. Building and nurturing these connections can provide invaluable insights, opportunities, and guidance as you navigate your career path.

A well-rounded eco-system includes a diverse array of individuals. Think of someone who currently holds the position you aspire to achieve or works at a company you’re targeting.
