The Environment & Planning team
The Environment & Planning team consisting of three highly-regarded partners and a number of senior associates and lawyers at varying levels provides advice across:
- Environment assessment and approval strategies;
- Environmental compliance;
- Compulsory acquisitions;
- Water;
- Climate Change;
- Regulatory & projects;
- Contaminated or heritage sites;
- Planning Approvals;
- Native vegetation;
- Biodiversity and species conservation;
- Due diligence and management;
- Native title, cultural heritage and land rights; and
- Environmental investigations and defending environmental prosecutions.
Position Description Due to recent and ongoing growth the E+P team are looking for an environment and planning lawyer with between
4-6 years’ post admission experience.
You will be working on the environmental aspects of major energy, resource and infrastructure projects and advising on the law and policy relation to climate change, including emissions trading schemes, Commonwealth greenhouse agreements, carbon trading agreements and renewable energy.
Clients include NSW Government entities, large Energy & Resource companies, Transport organisations and large blue chip corporates.
They are currently working on the environmental aspects of some of NSW and Australia's largest infrastructure projects involving everything from due diligence through to the defence of prosecutions.
Requirements
You will have between
4-6 years post admission experience as an environment and planning lawyer gained within another top/mid-tier national or international law firm.
Ideally, you will have experience in class 3, 4 or 5 claims in the NSW Land and Environment Court.
In addition, you will:
- have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal as well as people skills;
- have strong attention to detail with well-developed analytical skills;
- be team-focused but also able to work independently; and
- be proactive and have a positive and energetic approach with a commitment to providing excellent service.
