We are partnering with one of Australia’s top organisations to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel with expertise in retail banking law on a fixed term contract.
The opportunity An immediate opportunity is available for a Senior Legal Counsel with extensive financial services experience to join the in-house legal team on fixed term contract. This role will support the identification of all legal and regulatory compliance risks applicable to the business.
Requirements As part of the Legal Team, you will work with the Head of Legal and Company Secretary to manage legal and regulatory risks and support the Executive Committee in risk management and strategic transactions. You will have experience within the financial services industry with at least 3
+ years' PAE and be responsible for the following:
- Providing legal advice on financial services laws, including AFS licensing, Corporations Act, AML/CTF Act, and Privacy Act.
- Advising on legislative changes and assisting with compliance implementation.
- Advising on client lending/financing, strategic partnerships, and supplier agreements.
- Offering commercial legal support on employment, property, and general legal matters.
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, NDAs, due diligence reports, and transaction documents.
- Providing timely solutions to critical legal issues and support corporate policy development.
- Educating and training the business on legal risks and regulatory updates.
- Liaising with external counsel as required.
In addition, you will:
· Have strong communication skills;
· Have the ability to build and foster strong client and stakeholder relationships; and
· Be adaptable, flexible and commercial in your approach.
