We are seeking a diligent and detail oriented
Information Officer to join our client within a NSW Government team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing requests made under the
Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act). The role involves ensuring transparency and compliance while handling access to government information in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage GIPA requests and process applications in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Provide expert advice on information access and privacy issues.
- Assess and review documents for the release of government information, ensuring compliance with exemptions and public interest tests.
- Draft correspondence and notices regarding decisions made under the GIPA Act.
- Maintain accurate records of all GIPA requests and outcomes.
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders as necessary.
About You - Previous experience working with the GIPA Act or related legislation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A background in law, public policy, or government administration is desirable but not essential.
