We represent one of Australia's premier independent law firms who have a rare opening in the Environment & Planning team.

The Team

Our client's Environment & Planning team consists of pre-eminent partners who are all variously recognised as leaders in their field. 
  
The practice is recognised as a leader in Environmental and Planning Law. Working across government, property, energy and resources, infrastructure, utilities and manufacturing sectors, they specialise in environmental assessments for major projects, environmental incident management, planning approvals and advice, contaminated land management and environmental and planning litigation.

The Role 

Due to continued growth, the team is seeking a Senior Associate to work closely with a highly experienced Partner. This role will offer the opportunity to collaborate with other senior partners on high-profile projects, covering a wide range of issues within the practice area.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice, conduct due diligence, manage transactions, and oversee litigation. Your clients will include federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as large Australian and international corporations.

Requirements

The successful candidate will need at least 6 years' post-admission experience in environmental, planning, and projects law from a reputable Australian or international firm.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
  • Extensive experience in litigation before the Land and Environment Court.
  • A strong background in project-related, transactional, regulatory, litigation, and dispute resolution work.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in mentoring and supervising junior lawyers.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, counsel, junior lawyers, and other stakeholders.
