One of Australia's leading boutique firms is in growth mode and are looking to take on board a commercial litigation partner.
Dispute Resolution Team
The national Dispute Resolution team covers the full gamut of litigation across broad commercial, building and construction, insolvency, financial services, property, insurance and corporate disputes.
The wider team consists of three partners, three senior associates, four associates and graduates.
They represent a range of clients including major property developers, financial institutions, hotels and resorts, construction companies, high net worth individuals, insolvency practitioners, accounting firms, and energy and resources companies.
Position Description This role is available due to the recent departure of a junior partner combined with recent rapid growth of the firm and the dispute resolution practice.
On offer is a busy practice that will see you working on a variety of contested matters. Some recent highlights include:
- defending a listed company in relation to a multi-million claim for breach of contract and misleading and deceptive conduct in the sale of child centres;
- representing a property developer in relation to a claim by an architect for unpaid fees with a cross claim for professional negligence and misleading and deceptive conduct;
- acting for a minority international shareholder in an Australian listed entity and its subsidiary involving division or shareholding and demerger of numerous international companies and assets, including disputed intellectual property assets; and
- acting for a farming business in a $16 million claim for breach of contract and negligence relating to loss caused by fire;
You will also get involved in insolvency litigation so some experience in this space is essential.
Requirements You will ideally be a senior litigation lawyer either operating as a senior associate, counsel or partner level with a broad commercial litigation practice covering corporate, commercial and insolvency disputes.
You will be looking to join a growing and dynamic practice with plenty of opportunity for career progression to equity.
This role will suit an ambitious lawyer looking for progression or a partner looking to contribute to a thriving practice.
