We have a new opportunity, to join a leading Sydney construction company as a legal counsel.

Our client has a dynamic and diverse team based in Sydney. They deliver everything from commercial high-rises to industrial facilities, aged-care centres, and educational institution. They operate across the entire spectrum of the construction sector, bringing a unique blend of creativity and technical innovation to every project.

Role
 
This role will report into the Senior Lawyer and also work closely with the Deputy Managing Director. You will be involved with the full range of legal functions, including but not limited to providing in-house legal and commercial services and support, legal advice and related strategic advice concerning the construction business and property development, including:

1. preparation and negotiation of construction contracts, agreements with consultants and all other associated contracts and agreements necessary for the carriage of construction and development;
2. understanding risk profiles;
3. overseeing the negotiating and documentation of financing facilities for the funding of the developments;
4. handling disputes and claims;
5. advising project directors when required;
6. ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and licensing requirements; and
7. managing external lawyers.  

About you

1. The successful candidate will have between 3-7 years' PAE from a law firm, construction, or real estate company. 
2. This role requires a good understanding of construction and commercial law.
3. Experience in handling claims, dispute avoidance strategies and litigation.
